How to write Learning Outcomes

My dear students, Hope you have under stood the various Aims and Objectives of teaching Social Science, Taxonomy of Objectives classified by Benjamin S. Bloom and his followers. Instructional Objectives are changes effected in the cognitive structure and behavior through the process of teaching and learning. Learning Outcome simply means- after learning a particular topic, the student is expected to express certain abilities. In every Lesson Plan, we need to write Learning Outcomes.
Suppose you teach the topic 'Family' to students of Std VIII. Then write like this.
After learning the topic 'Family' the student will be able to:
1. recall the various concepts, facts and new terms relating to the topic 'Family' (remembering)
2. define the terms- Family, Joint Family and Nuclear Family (understanding)
3. explain the characteristics of each type of family (understanding)
4. establish the relationship between family and society (understanding)
5. distinguish between joint and nuclear families (understanding)
6. illustrate (with examples) the various functions of family (understanding)
7. prepare a picture album showing the features of family  (skill, interest and attitude)
8. undertake a project to study the role of family and prepare a report of it. (applying, analyzing and creating)
9. suggest solutions for the problems faced by modern families (understanding and applying)
10. write a short story of an ideal family of the student's imagination (applying and creating)
You can write more learning outcomes like this. But think that you need to complete the topic in a particular period. So, limit the number of learning outcomes based on the nature of topic, teacher's strategies and the time available. Some items for development of interest and attitude can be given as home assignment.
